Now in my top 4. The script is super clever which, is nothing new. But the style was so strong and happens to be one of my favorite aesthetics to grace this earth. THE TRANSITIONS WERE SEAMLESS, very rarely do I feel like musical numbers are truly in touch with what’s happening script wise. The active acknowledgement of where you just were makes this story so effortless to digest in spite of its quick moving nature

Léon: The Professional 1994
The cinematography was fucking incredible and along with the edits provided a very visually compelling story. The main bone I have to pick with this was how much they leaned into the pedophilic perspective. There were times where I was confused as to how it really added to the story in a meaningful way. A missed opportunity narratively in my mind, the potential for a compelling plot was missed

BEAUTIFUL FUCKING SHOT WORK AND PERFORMANCES.
The plot was something to behold. That shit was really making me think and was just confusing enough to keep me there. It has a lot of quotables mixing in the chilling moments with comedy.
Also Kevin Spacey is perfectly casted as a psychopath

This movie was incredibly captivating through and through. Its pacing was insane. It throws so much overwhelming information to you and it feels like you barely know what’s going on. And what made it bearable were the characters that were just as confused as the viewer. You just take a journey with them as they explore morality and emotional turmoil.
I like that it doesn’t necessarily pick a side in my mind. Where you can see why the characters are doing what they’re doing.
An case study on how to utilize details to push the story beyond the script.
