  Third rewatch of my silly project where I’m rewatching on the day of the last quarter moon each month
  
  I think the primary issue I have with this as an adaptation is that it doesn’t really manage to capture the magic of Ai Yazawa’s storytelling. I don’t think it’s awful as an adaptation, and if you aren’t familiar with the source material I think it’d make for an enjoyable watch, but I think you really do underestimate just how much of a part her artwork has in bringing together a compelling narrative.

  The 4 minutes at the end where he took off his jacket changed me
