started off really good but the drama became overblown and ridiculous. it jumped the shark for me. also even though that he had a very sad story i don’t think it would justify the nazi collaboration to willem defoe………. and finally i don’t understand what was happening with the accents. was hana french canadian? if he was hungarian why did he have a british accent……….. definitely not a bad movie but it was SO LONG and melodramatic

La terreur et la vertu: Danton 1964
Movie gives little to no explanation of who these people are or what’s happening. It doesn't even get into why the king is dead- it just gets right into these National Assembly divas. Ordet 1955
Unfortunately I struggled to connect with this movie until the very end. It’s so slow and just boring at times. Every time Johannes started to monologue I felt the urge to open a different tab. Having read the plot summary I unfairly expected this film map onto the Brothers Karamazov, which it really… doesn’t. Though the intense Christianity of the film is reminiscent of Dostoevsky, the characters are not. Mikkhel is no Ivan…… and Adres no Alyosha. But Johannes kind…

Mickey 17 2025
Ridiculous movie with just so many different things happening. I think a guy who dies and comes back to life is enough of a premise for one plot without the cute little gremlin aliens. The brief challengers moment which is immediately brushed past and never again acknowledged. It’s completely unsubtle political commentary (Mark ruffalo’s veneers). The sauce reprieve. Imo it is too long but totally saved by entertaining performances, set pieces, and being genuinely funny. Dinner scene was the best part.
