  This felt more like an evil dead spin-off than the actual evil dead spin-offs and that’s probably the highest compliment I could give. Also the deliberately lo-fi camera technology accentuated how intentionally framed a lot of the shots were. After watching the trailer for 28 years later, I hope this is the “Mad Max” to that films “Fury Road”.

  I’m looking for good examples of short films that became feature length films. Embedding a story that can stand on its own within a larger narrative is impressive, and I imagine a signal for good writing.

  Symmetry, 90 degree pans, fonts, close up shots of stationary, and a recurring ensemble of actors including Willem Dafoe. Robert Eggers is goth Wes Anderson.

  2024 has been a lackluster year for moviegoing, but Dune 2 and Nosferatu make for pretty solid bookends. Here’s to 2025 and the inevitable post strike slump.

  It insists upon itself
