Watched this at midnight on little sleep, so I definitely didn't catch all of the details and was slightly more snarky that usual about stupid choices by the characters. Oops.
Still definitely enjoyed the movie, it was beautifully animated, funny, and had a good message. Billy Crystal's dub of Calcifer was the highlight, obviously.

I made this account purely because after seeing this movie, I was shocked at how many people rated this highly. I usually come out of movies, good or bad, having at least enjoyed the experience, but this one just made me feel dirty and question who greenlit this. It's poorly edited, poorly conceived and a poor representation of the kink community, all of which should have been figured out from the first script. But hey, Nicole Kidman acted her pants off (literally), so one star.
Another box ticked in my ongoing film education, tonight it was time for my first Wes Anderson movie, and the pressure was on as it ranks at the top of the film list for the people I watched it with.
