  Just real bad. The dialog is so stupid and stiff. John Malkovich and Billy Bob Thornton phone it in (and their characters are already flat). I guess it's trying for some No Country for Old Men tension, but it fails pretty hard.

  Great movie! It was critically panned in 1997 mostly because Roger Ebert hated that it stayed true to the 1950's right-wing propaganda source material. But what he didn't get was that there was an underlying tone of **jerk-off motion**
