This movie wasn't made for me, but I think it might have worked better as a stage production to be honest.

The Boy and the Heron 2023
A slow start, with a whirlwind finish - a departure in structure, or rather and introduction of such, for Miyazaki. Perhaps explained by the source material, or even an uncertainty about which story is being told. Expectedly beautiful visuals with some digital effects I've not seen from Ghibli before bolstering some of the most evocative sequences ever from Ghibli. An incredible opening to this final masterpiece.
