The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe 2005
i enjoyed this movie! we watched it in one of my classes, and i’d read the book before, but hadn’t seen the movie. it’s a really pretty movie; i especially enjoyed looking at the sets. they brought a massive sense of wonder and fantasy to the entire film.

i thought this movie was fine. it’s a pretty film, and i definitely laughed and cried at a few moments. i did feel, though, that it fell just short of getting the point it itself was making.
the reverse-misogyny of barbieland conveyed the idea well enough, but the ending consisted of that system being restored, which was treated as a victory. if the point is that the kens’ treatment is analogous to the way women are treated in the real world,…Translated from by

Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead 1991
my mother chose this movie today. she watched it when she was a kid, and thought i would like it. i did. i thought it was funny, and, while mostly unbelievable, had an interesting story. each of the characters was awful in their own unique way at the beginning, and it was nice to watch them change as they gained a new perspective on what their mother had to do to support them.
