    The Big Short

    ★★★½

The Big Short made me finally understand how the 2008 crisis happened, after many failed attempts in the past (although I only have some basic investing knowledge so I had to stop the movie at one point and look up some terms). It sheds light on the failures of Wall Street banks in the prior years.

    ★★★½

The direction is playful and fun and colorful and unique and helps you suspend your disbelief at what's happening.

When shit goes down, the movie all of a sudden gets serious and the playful tone disappointingly turns into a more dramatic one. It felt like going from an amusement park to a library. The characters start acting in a totally unbelievable manner (maybe they've been acting like that the whole time, but the direction didn't let you notice it as much).

    But the ending saves it.
