    See for Me

    ★★★

Loved the concept, but the execution is lacking. For a movie called See for Me, there’s very little use of the titular app (which allows the blind to contact a seeing person via video call for assistance) in this home invasion thriller. Instead it’s mostly just Sophie wandering around the house trying to not be seen. The usage of the app takes up maybe 15-20 minutes of the entire film (including a scene set well before the actual invasion), and…

    Schindler's List

I mean, what do you expect, it’s Schindler’s List, arguably the most important Holocaust drama ever made. It’s bleak, it’s grounded, and it’s highly respectful of the subject matter. On a visual and technical level as well, it is a masterpiece, with some stunning black and white cinematography that only occasionally uses bits of color in important moments and some beautiful yet brutal production design. Definitely one of Spielberg’s best, even if it’s not an easy watch like most of his other films.

A sequel that improves on just about everything from its predecessor.

The film follows Paul Atreides as he joins forces with the Fremen in order to fight back against the Harkonnens after they killed his father, only to find himself at the center of a religious conflict.

Well, I'm certainly glad I rewatched Part One yesterday because I would have been lost as hell going through this one had I not. There's so much established in that film that comes…

A weird and fun entry into the long running franchise.

The film follows a group of young adults who find themselves in over their head when they board a space station called Romulus to steal some cryopods, only to find themselves being hunted by the perfect organism, the Xenomorph.

Well, I've actually been pretty excited about this film. Alien and Aliens are two of my favorite sci-fi horror films ever, and I've generally enjoyed Fede Alverez's horror output (i.e. Evil…
