holy shit. this was such a good movie. I kind of was watching it from two angles: that it was a metaphor for delusions and schizophrenia, and that it was talking about hero worship and celebrity. I mean, it definitely had things to say about both, but I had a hard time putting both themes together in my head if that makes sense. I can't even articulate all the things I think about this movie there's too many thoughts in my brain. I wanna write an essay or something

I had no strong feelings about this movie. negative or positive. I felt lots of nothing. i think they thought that bc everyone knows the mario characters that they didn't have to develop them as movie characters and they were wrong lol. the movie was so short and everything felt so rushed and unemotional. nothing felt like it mattered. the most emotionally deep character was bowser and his incel tendencies.

positives: the animation was great, the sound effects and score/soundtrack were amazing, Jack black was wonderful and I want to give him a smooch.
negatives: short, rushed, emotionally bare, unremarkable

Robin Williams as a genderqueer robot in a t4t relationship with Ewan McGregor fighting capitalism with his working class polycule. (for straight people, this is a joke)

yeah. this movie is so fucking cool. I have no critical thoughts about it, it's just good

favorite part: everything. the character designs, the aesthetic, the plot, the message, the music, etc. I liked that there wasn't a huge focus on romance, just fighting capitalism.
least favorite part: it's definitely got some dated…
