went into this movie with low expectations but actually had a decent time. this movie is the lovechild of the menu and midsommar, combining the exploration of cults and celebrity. opus borrows a lot from its predecessors, but still manages to shock and surprise. performance wise, ayo is the shining star and john a constellation in her universe. whoever chose maggot brain dlz for the credits deserves excellent head.

kurt kunkle you will always be famous for all the wrong reasons.

somehow im still attracted to joe keery after watching this. spree's use of modern technology is actually meaningful to the plot and premise. this film could have easily felt very gimmicky but the use of livestreaming, cctv footage, and social media help drive the plot and provide the madness for kurt's methods. while on the nose, the film's ending does make sense for the story and its themes. overall a fun yet frightening film that made me want to delete my instagram.

crazy idea guys maybe we shouldn’t idolize people in death just saying

on becoming a guinea fowl is a simple yet poignant exploration of zimbabwean death culture and the postmortem idolization of shitty men. while the film centers around fred’s death, the women in his family are champions of the story. the scene with shula and her cousins in bed, the singing in the pantry, and the final scene really drive this home. overall a solid film that cautions against the normalization of sexual abuse in the nuclear family.

after 7 months i'm finally able to give a serious review

i'd don't think a single piece of media has ever affected me like challengers has? while the friendship between patrick and art, and its eventual decline, is the crux of the movie, zendaya holds her own as tashi. i wish we could have gotten more of each character, and their dynamic as a trio, but what we got was so so good.

there's an incredible amount of fun and…
