James Gunn thought it fitting to have Scrappy Doo be an analog for Osama Bin Laden, and the Mystery Gang’s sudden betrayal of the young pup is reminiscent of Uncle Sam backstabbing his Muhajadeen comrades after the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan.
