A descent into the sordidness of a life seemingly destined for an ever-deepening darkness. The black-and-white cinematography doesn’t soften the brutality–it amplifies it, refusing to embellish or romanticise. Each shot echoes the eerie compositions of Tod Browning and David Lynch, creating a visual language that is both timeless and deeply unsettling.

This is a harrowing exploration of the consequences of war—the soldiers who return steeped in horror, the protagonist’s fractured hopes, and, above all, the chilling presence of Trine Dyrholm,…

    Adolescence

    ★★½

Watching Adolescence felt like witnessing a story that wanted to say everything but never quite knew how. Its continuous long takes pull you in, making every moment feel urgent and unfiltered. The acting is stellar, the tension palpable—but beneath its immersive style, the show struggles to fully explore the weight of its themes. Radicalization, toxic masculinity, and parental failure are all there, yet they remain frustratingly surface-level. Instead of digging deep, Adolescence gestures at complexity without truly unpacking it, leaving behind more questions than revelations. Visually gripping, emotionally raw, but ultimately incomplete.

This was an artistic masterpiece and will go down as a classic for modern day cinema. I feel sorry for those that don't understand cinema, struggling to comprehend the artistry this film is on screen. To the acting, writing, direction and cinematography; this was the clear Oscar winner in all categories.

    This is phenomenal!

The greatest failing of Memoir of a Snail is how little it earns the emotional depth it so desperately strives for. Elliot constructs an endless sequence of misfortunes—loss, abandonment, addiction, isolation—but rather than weaving these into a meaningful arc, the film abruptly pivots to a simplistic resolution. After immersing us in relentless misery, its ultimate message amounts to little more than just let go and move on. Optimism in storytelling is no bad thing, but when so much time has…
