A Taxi Driver 2017
It's a pretty good movie. but it leaves me with a lot of conflicts over how to describe it. It sort of slides in between the tonal spheres of comedic realism to political thriller to... indiana jones? It's a good watch, I never felt bored the entire time but I couldn't help but feel I would have come away from the film with a much more poignant feeling if the final stretch didn't contain so many embellishments. Despite my pretentiousness, a compelling tale of heroism regardless

Escape from New York 1981
EFNY is a pretty entertaining film. Originally mostly interested in watching it for the same reason someone reads a book that's influenced some of their favorite authors, I finished the movie very satisfied. Although I am relentlessly tired of the drawn-out 80s nostalgia pop culture revival that is still shambling along like a zombie, infecting what it touches into media slop, it doesn't mean the 80s didn't have some fun movies. Tirade about art aside, it's a blast to watch…
