  Chalamet absolutely nails this role. Performances all-round were impeccable and transporting. Many of them were emotive and all seemed sincere - Mangold admirably doesn’t fail to allow Dylan’s early discography flourish and breathe in this film. The folk scene at the time also manages to have some musical coverage, which all lends to the usual folk-as-shared-heritage themes.   A neat picture that manages to do a lot with the resources. A lament of the American dream, cleverly written and shot with rural americana at the forefront of its aesthetic. The characters, despite being fairly one dimensional, are absolutely fun and well written. The casting is perfect and the actors are admirable. Mia Goth is predictably as good as her praise suggests, both as protagonist and Pearl.

  Luhrmann's style is the most noticeable element in this film. Untameable, the editing flicks us around an untidy narrative with little to no sense of consistency or direction. Almost nauseating in its lack of control, only some montages manage to strike a landing from this whirlwind.
