This is my 8th time watching Showgirls and finally getting to see it in 4K HDR from the new Vinegar Syndrome restoration is like seeing it again for the very first time.

There is this fatalistic and primitive tension between Nomi, Zach, and Cristal in that VIP room the first time all three of them are together. Watching Nomi flop all over Zach with the intent of satisfying Cristal's pleasure yet never touching her once. Cristal wants this heat so…

I am certainly in the minority thinking this is Ken Russell's best work. I am also certainly in the minority thinking this is Theresa Russell's best work. As the only, and I mean only, letterboxd user to have this in their Top 4 favorites, I want to take a moment to talk about what is close to one of, if not, the best movies ever in my opinion.

Another pre-code rocket from Wellman and honestly I didn’t even realize he had directed my latest watch, NIGHT NURSE, until I was about halfway through this one. Excellent stuff here making it another breezy 70 minute picture. Just as funny and wacky as the last one and where I think this one slightly excels in comparison is that it absolutely completely and totally sticks the landing.  I’m excited to catch more of Wellman’s work.

Hard not to fall in love with a Pre-Code Stanwyck movie that also features Joan Blondell so heavily she's almost the co-main character. Deeply funny and a wealth of gags that certainly wouldn't have come close to flying even 10 years later. I can't say I expected that much from a tight 72 minute flick but it really doesn't waste a moment and commits to its wackiness right from the beginning.

I wish my father was alive to see this. The highest compliment I can give a movie.

possibly anti-facist so we're scoring generously on that note.
