    Black Bag

    ★★½

It's what Mr. and Mrs. Smith should have always been, the paranoid atmosphere between spies is far superior to that bullshit bang bang at the end of the movie with Brangelina.

I just think Black Bag alternated too much between extremely boring moments and others that were legitimately intriguing. It was too unstable in its own rhythm.

To be quite honest, it looks a lot like one of those films made by renowned directors that go straight to streaming, which isn't exactly a compliment.

And I cracked up every time the typographic font from Friends was used to indicate what day of the week it was.

    ★★

It has everything I like: quirky atmosphere, morbid humor and a good dose of mischief. Still, unfortunately, the film didn't click with me. To top it off, I even fell asleep for a moment, which is definitely not cool when you paid for the ticket.

Nolan has a PATHETIC habit of wanting to dramatize and overexplain very simple things so that the audience feels smarter than they really are for supposedly having understood all that preposterous and nonsensical gibberish.

Not to mention that if you think Robert Downey Jr. deserves an Oscar for this, you're just signing the certificate that the only thing you've watched with him are his MCU movies.

The Substance is an anachronistic film. It feels like someone wrote the script in 1996, taking into account the issues of 1996, and addressing them as they normally appear in 1996 society. It talks about beauty standards, but the ones from 1996. It talks about the stigma of aging, but the ones from 1996. It talks about fitness trends, but the ones from 1996.

    It's a 1996 film, but set in 2024.

Oh, yes. This film was actually released in…
