Considering how Marvel movies dominate the box offices, the Eggers Nosferatu is reflective of what the modern audience is captivated by. Which is Absolutely not a compliment btw.
Lily Rose gives a great performance but the mystique, poetry & je ne sais quoi of the Murnau and Herzog stories were completely lost in the squelching jump scares and decadent art direction in order to maintain our cooked attention spans. Lots I could write and ramble about desirability politics, the invasive lengths women can be pushed to go in order to not become expendable, or how often I think about how insecurity has become an industry… but I really just like how the overall message of this movie is how you just gotta love yourself lol
