Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann is one of my all-time favorite books, but a major issue with it is that it focuses too much on Tom White and the other white men instead of fully empathizing with the Osage, to the point where it almost reads as a fictional murder mystery. Scorsese's adaptation shows the tragedy in an unforgiving, transparent way, giving the deserved weight to these murders. The pain can be felt seeping through every single scene without ever glorifying it. Martin Scorsese is 80 years old and continues to push the boundaries of cinema.
