The underlying statements in the plot are relenting, poignant and severe. Part I: epic. Part II: overly devoted to the drama, but all is forgiven for that gorgeous Carrara sequence.

Fantastically well-paced for its 3h35m runtime—the intermission works wonders. A++ for title design, to boot.

I don’t like Adrien Brody—I find him annoying, full of himself, self-righteous and pretentious—but god is this good. And no, I very much don’t gaf about the architectural non-accuracy.
