Wow. Blown away. Another masterclass of horror, Written and Directed by Ari Aster. With the horrifying death of the main characters entire family in the first twenty minutes, you’re hit with an incredible wave of dread and shock. This builds up throughout the film, and ends with one of the most satisfying conclusions to a movie I’ve seen in a while. The cinematography was GORGEOUS. The shot of them entering Sweden, with the camera inverted, traveling down the road, was absolutely next level in a large format screening. Loved it. An absolute must see.

And the Oscar goes to: Joaquin Phoenix. Wow, what a performance. As a big Batman fan, I really had doubts about a film based on the origin of The Joker. This was a super dark take on the usual watered down version of Gotham in past films. Multiple parts had my heart beating out of my chest, I felt so uncomfortable. Highly recommend.
