Two likeable leads and a top-tier cinematographer in Dan Laustsen make this otherwise mediocre big-budget B-movie very watchable. The story isn't great, but the actors chemistry is there, and some shots and scenes are actually pretty solid. I wish I saw this on the big screen.

Jallikattu 2019
TIFF #8: Jallikattu (dir. Lijo Jose Pellissery)
The first 5 minutes are great - an amazing, fresh, inventive opening sequence that I loved. The rest of the film is basically 100 angry characters screaming at each other constantly, many times for no reason whatsoever. Half way through, I was tired and exhausted by the fast-paced, never-ending stream of screaming. Let's just say I rooted for the buffalo.Translated from by -
First Reformed 2017
TIFF #21: First Reformed (dir. Paul Schrader)
This is the kind of movie in which you can watch multiple scenes of Ethan Hawke writing his diary, close-up on the page as he writes, while voice over recites what is being written. That is the level of filmmaking Paul Schrader's downspiraling career is at now. Bland and dumb and with incredibly heavy-handed monologues and terrible dialogue, this is one to avoid at all costs.Translated from by
