Seems like the kind of film that would have catalyzed other bank robbery gone awry movies. Was surprised about the factual basis for the film. I was expecting a twist that never came. Pacino is Pacino. Felt very neutral about the film at the end, but objectively feel it was well-made. Certain terms and language that are a product of the time. A time capsule of the 1970s.

Mr. Deeds Goes to Town is a more obvious precedent to Mr. Smith Goes to Washington than I would have thought. Gary Cooper comes into money three years before Jimmy Stewart comes into a Congress seat and while there are enough differences to make two films, they clearly share the same DNA (not to mention Jean Arthur).
