  The Power of Myth 1988

  Campbell is fascinating and brilliant and clearly knowledgeable, but there’s a lot of generalization here regarding world mythology and folklore. There is a critique to be had regarding that. However, would make a great long intro watch for anyone who is interested in myths and isn’t well-versed; Campbell does a great job tying our modern myth-making (modern media with which today’s audience is likely to be familiar) to archetypes that have long existed.

  Don’t watch the theatrical version. Watch the “Alexander Revisited” version. A modern take on the old-school Hollywood epic genre. Fucking love this shit. Minus a half-star because Jared Leto is repulsive to me (COME/BREAK ME DOWN/BURY ME, BURY ME/I AM FINISHED WITH YOU/YOU/YOU)
