A fine movie about a bug harem underneath New York City. It unfortunately feels less than the sum of its parts. The blend between practical and computer generated effects is practically perfect, especially for its time and it features a lot of great stunt work. Poltergeist II: The Other Side 1986
Poltergeist 2 is a wonderful effects showcase that unfortunately severely lacks new and interesting ideas over the original apart from H.R. Giger's fantastic creature design. "They're back", a callback to Poltergeist's now classic tagline "They're here", sums up this sequel's issue quite perfectly. It doesn't have much more of a story to tell other than "the're back".
Still, I feel like this film is underappreciated. It's competently made, inoffensive, and mildly entertaining. The 80s version of a Blumhouse flick if you will.
