I'm torn between a 3 and 3.5 on this one. Ever since Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story hit the screens, it's been hard (pun!) to take these kinds of films seriously. A lot of effort went into this - the production is top-notch, the singing is strong, Chalamet is as committed as ever, and Norton is downright transformative. But the script is weak, and both the romance and Dylan's musical transition feel undercooked and boring.

I seriously don't get the hype around this show. Of course, the production is great, and the acting is uniformly good, although Cosmo Jarvis sticks out with his Tom Hardy-ish performance. I might be wrong, though, since many who read the book consider his portrayal faithful to the character.

Mark Eydelshteyn, wearing nothing but boxers and yelling 'пошли нахуй из моего дома!' while still sporting a hard-on, feels like the perfect way to cap off my 2024 cinematic year.

Surprisingly enjoyable movie despite SNL being one of the most unfunny shows ever. Obviously, the plot is an amalgamation of real stories crammed into a 100-minute time frame, but the pitch-perfect cast elevates it. The dialogues are rapid and quite funny, of course the real SNL skits are the weakest link. Some elaborately staged sequences and an energy similar to Birdman, Jobs and Uncut Gems. The third act is a bit corny at times, but I finished the movie with a smile (should I say grin?) on my face.
