Great, now I know what a three-hour panic attack feels like.

This is a movie that doesn't want to be understood, but felt. Highly unique, very funny, but unfortunately too long. I really thought/hoped the ending was a plot twist and not just a reference. Joaquin Phoenix proves once again that he can embody the modern emasculated incel better than anyone.

I really had fun with this. I don't think the humor and the horror detract from each other here. The fresh setting does a lot for me. The sterile and old-fashioned surroundings of the Alpine hotel and the surreal timelessness and isolation provide the perfect basis for a pulpy, eerie story. Add a little Dan Stevens madness and a cuckoo-banana story and you have an entertaining Friday night horror flick with a few friends and cold drinks.

Also, Dan Stevens speaks such good German, I'm going to call him Daniel Steffens from now on.

Welcome to late capitalism where mega-company Mattel is paying Greta Gerwig to spoon-feed to you that patriarchy is bad.

What a wonderful, impressionistic fable journey that was. I especially liked the magical moments (the scene on the mountain!) and also the music.
