the main characters rarely open up about themselves so we know them from the pov of other people. The film is making the audience feel like we're mere spectators in their lives. It's always as if we're following them or watching them from cramped or restricted places. It was intimate but distant at the same time.

I finally saw the film to understand the commotion around it.
I think it's a pretty good film if they didn't make it a musical. The choreographies are great but the singing is NOT givingggg. A musical should cast actors who can actually sing well lol. The story is pretty interesting but I hoped they did more research about it, especially research on Mexico and its culture (I know the film was filmed in France despite being set in Mexico)…
