The Bakery Girl of Monceau 1963
The type of film that makes me feel like I could actually be a filmmaker. Needs a second viewing to digest the visuals, candidly I was reading subtitles for much of the run time, given the consistent voiceover.
Rohmer is clearly someone who gets people, even in 20 minutes, I was brought back to times of anonymous crushes on girls in my high school classes and the terribly clumsy games you play with your self about trying to avoid them even though you have barely spoken.

Le Samouraï 1967
On the big screen! Classic, that even more enjoyable on rewatch Melville blocks and moves the camera with such efficiency and no waste, all decisions that match the straight forward narrative. Along with a beautiful restrained performance from Alain Delon.

Sometimes a Great Notion 1971
Newman directs the shit out of this but I still don’t understand where things lay thematically, who’s philosophy is right the Stampers or the greater towns people? Maybe that’s the point.
