Sin Nombre 2009

Fukunaga is just spectacular at directing, it was evident in True Detective season 1, it was just as evident here in his debut film Sin nombre.
A truly eye opening take on immigration, deportation, and gang affiliation south of the border. I got similar vibes to City of God with the young gang member portrayal, a very unfortunate topic that has to be covered.
The ending was brutal, I was not entirely surprised by how the last few scenes were framing the story, but I was still generally crushed by the result itself.
Willy’s sacrifice really shaped and concluded his character incredibly, very impressed.

Quotable, iconic, hilarious.
The way that the director adapted this so that the viewer can’t distinguish between reality and Bateman’s twisted perversions is done so well. It honestly gives that same effect that Bateman himself begins to feel after he was brushed off by his supposed lawyer.
