Is this how far the MCU has fallen? Really? This movie was so egregiously written, shot, scored and acted that it truly had me questioning whether Marvel films were ever good to begin with. (They were at one point. I won’t be gaslit.) At no moment during this movie was I able to suspend my disbelief or glean a less than contrived character or story arc. I’m awarding half a star to poor Carl Lumbly, who provides more pathos than this movie deserves.

The cinematic love child of Van Helsing (2004) and Sherlock Holmes (2009) that is truly only watchable because of how eager McAvoy is to chew scenery for every second of his screen time. Steampunk Victor Frankenstein and Igor SOUNDS cool, but I was ready to tap out during the abscess sucking scene. And that was act one.
