The Brutalist has been my most anticipated film since it held its world premiere at last year's Venice International Film Festival. I think what interested me most about this film was the number of people that mentioned its grand scale and throwback to old school filmmaking. I will say that this film truly does feel like an homage to the Hollywood of the mid 20th century, featuring an overture, two acts, a fifteen minute intermission, and an epilogue. It was…

An early Christmas present from a fellow New Hampshirite! I have always been a fan of Robert Eggers' films. The Witch is a great minimalist film that relies heavily on atmosphere. The Lighthouse takes it up a notch but stays true to his roots as a director. The Northman was Eggers' first big budget, mainstream film that wasn't all that mainstream and I absolutely love him for that. It was also one of my favorite films of 2022 so I…

I actually had somewhat high expectations going into Snow White and this really let me down. I will say Rachel Zegler is really great and her singing voice is unrivaled. I just wish the screenplay and the other actors around her were better... At times unintentionally funny, Snow White remains a little too faithful to the original 1937 film in which it is based on. To the people saying this is one of Disney's best live-action adaptations, I strongly disagree.…

You honestly can't get more family-friendly or wholesome than Paddington 2. Paul King is the king (no pun intended) of making lighthearted, fun, whimsical films EVERYONE can enjoy regardless of your age. That is something I feel has proven to be very challenging for filmmakers recently and yet he does it with such ease. This film takes everything that was great about the first movie and makes the adventure that much grander.

Paddington Brown (voiced immaculately by Ben Whishaw) is…

After four release date delays and one indefinite delay due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes of 2023, I have finally seen Academy Award winning director Bong Joon-ho's latest film Mickey 17. This movie tells the story of Mickey Barnes, an "Expendable" who is tasked with testing and exploring for a colonization crew on the newly discovered frozen planet Niflheim. As an Expendable any time he dies, they make a new copy of him with all of his memories intact.…

Phenomenal picture. Just so much to say and yet you're left feeling speechless... So deserving of all its Oscar nominations. I could definitely see this winning Best Original Score and Best Cinematography. I'm predicting Adrien Brody wins Best Actor in a Leading Role and I would not be upset with that at all. The Brutalist is a fantastic film worth your attention!
