I enjoyed the darkly comedic aspects of this and this unique take on the "robot goes on a killing spree" genre.

I wanted so badly to like this but the movie didn’t do enough to make me care about the Lovell family. I felt heartless when the daughter says that the dad just wanted it to stop because I felt the same way about the movie at that point. The perspective shifts were so cool and the sound design was perfect and I loved the camera work. Overall, the movie fell short for me, though. We’ll get another good werewolf movie one of these days, I just know it. It sucks that Dog Soldiers was the last good one that came out in (checks notes) 2002?!

The Thing 2011
This movie would have actually been very good if only they went with practical effects. The CGI isn't bad, per se. However, where creature effects are concerned, making the creature look as much like it exists as a living, breathing thing in the world of the movie is paramount to the horror. A lot of what made the original so good was due to the amazing effects. You could feel how grossed out the characters were at the "antics" of the shapeshifting creature. If you're a fan of the original, I would give this one a watch. There are worse ways to spend a couple hours.
