Seen through the lens of “Japanese movie that was hijacked by white producers”, it’s not too bad (if unoriginal).
But if viewed as “Brittany Murphy movie”— very bizarre, strange, she must have been tiding high and forced this one through for some reason
I’ll start with saying: Zoe Saldana does an excellent job with what she was given.
I’ll follow that up with: obviously she was not a supporting roll, ridiculous.
Ultimately: it’s a movie, it committed to something, something that ultimately rubbed me the wrong way. Often so offensive that it circles back around to impotent, silly. The music is best when it’s understated; the choreography is rough and embarrassing.
KSG was pretty good, would’ve been a hilarious best actress winner; like, she’s not in it that much and doesn’t do that much?
I’m always a sucker for the extremes of either 100% dialogue or 0% dialogue, and this is almost exclusively interactions between the two leads. I disagree with the preponderance of reviews— I thought the writing was strong (enough) and both characters were sympathetic (adjacent).

There are definitely some interesting elements, but the ending really falls apart under close (any?) scrutiny.
A specific criticism: the longlegs character was legitimately creepy the first 2-3 times he appeared, but lost all mystery/spook the longer he was on the screen.
