This film is cinema. Economics x Sport. The journey it takes you on, the characters, the team, you just get lost believing in them. The song The Mighty Rio Grande just perfectly captures what Billy Beane is trying to achieve, it’s a “metaphor”. The deeper zooms of the same shot used by McKay, something he also does in Foxcatcher, just give this film the atmosphere that makes it so brilliant.
