A sociopathic loser tried to find his way in the world- realizing that his way is to film the suffering of others. For this role, Jake Gyllenhaal dawns a face reminiscent of a death mask, and like a robot set to “film”, is out there hunting for tragedy. A fun, creepy thriller that was shot in front of my old apartment.

The Art of Self-Defense 2019
Yoooo, I absolutely adore this film. It’s beautifully shot, with STRONG CHARACTER writing. It feels like storytelling study on how letting the viewer be able to guess what is going, to happen doesn’t ruin, but heighten the experience of the movie. It’s minimal, bleak, brutal and FUCKING MAGICAL. I had genuine moments of physical kicking and flailing in response to this incredible film. Love this. Love it.
