  I'll admit this is a situation where I would've appreciated the movie a lot more if I hadn't read the book first, or if I'd waited longer to watch it. There's a level of subtlety to certain moments that the movie doesn't quite bring to the table, and it also doesn't balance the humor and the tragedy as well. But the performances!!

  This movie was gorgeously shot, and emotionally devastating. I thought the first section was stronger than the second, although Dev Patel was wonderful, and I would have liked to see a bit more development in the relationship between Saroo and his adoptive brother.
