“I’m not queer, I’m disembodied.”
Luca Guadagnino, as he consistently does in his work, clearly defines the thematic subject of the film early in its narrative.
To be queer is to either only be queer, or nothing at all. At least in 1955 Mexico City. As Lee struggles to find comfort in his romantic and carnal desires, Eugene altogether denies his tastes.
