"We don't blame the wolf for attacking we blame the shepherd for not protecting his flock." Lebanese director Heiny Srour centers the stories of women in their role of protectors. Shot in 16mm using an inventive montage of archival documentary footage and reenacted oral histories Srour's narrator Leila weaves her stories in the manner of Scheherazade's One Thousand and One Nights. Over forty years after its release this film remains powerfully fascinating and the commentary, tragically, relevant. It feels as if little has changed.

Still time to see this film at BAM Brooklyn NY

Di jiu tian chang 地久天长 (2019) the title of this masterful film can literally be  translated "for ever and ever" which alludes to the theme of deeply painful experiences and their effects. The tragedy of an extended family  is set within the dramatic changes in China from the 1980's to the present.

Tightly constructed and acted intellectual spy games and intrigues and as always with  Soderbergh a thought provoking question or two woven in.
    Such a pleasure!! Pure entertainment!!

Strong, charismatic  ensemble cast. Many nods to previous movies in the genre. My second Guy Richie film. Wanted more from him given this great fictional story . . . .
