Mickey 17 2025
Really excited for this one, but felt like making a Cody 2 by the end of it. The world-building, while interesting at moments, was unfortunately exiled to the shadows cast by an obese and didactic story. Too many conveniences, too little consequence. A cool concept that I wish left me walking away with more to think about than a threesome with myself and a 10/10 baddie.

The Truman Show 1998
A Carrey classic. For some reason, I struggled to suspend my disbelief with this watch-through. The pacing lacked logic but Jim Carrey’s acting really carries the plot. Exploring the idea of main character energy before it became a trite Gen Z philosophy.

Dream Scenario 2023
Disturbing. Unsettling. I respect it as a film and story but I was so tense the entire movie. The human interactions are painfully awkward from start to finish. Just. Ugh. I feel icky. And scared to go to sleep. This isn’t a horror movie but was scarier to me than anything I’ve seen in a while. Nicholas Cage is so whiney and deplorable the entire time. Played the character really well. Fuck this movie. Are we all zebras just blending in to hide from our own insecurities?

A Real Pain 2024
A beautiful film that compassionately explores the painful undercurrents of life. It crescendos and resolves as thoughtfully as the Chopin songs scored throughout. A must-watch.
