This movie brings the momentum. Amazing telling of a story that is bigger than any one character. Only wish those characters stayed on top a little longer, but that’s just a credit to the amazing performances on display. Absolutely raw all the way around, no funny business. 4/5 because my favorite part of Chazelle’s movies is his reliance on music to tell a story, which he puts less of an emphasis on in this film.
If Tenet (2020) is one side of the Christopher Nolan coin, Oppenheimer (2023) would pose to be the other, right? Following up his entirely non-linear action-packed film with nameless protagonists with a dark historical drama with one of the largest names the genre has to offer on the marquis. Yet somehow, Nolan manages to take the somber reality of the most significant scientific advancement of the 20th century and put you on the edge of your seat for 180 minutes.

What more could you want? Smokin’ hot love interest? Check. Stereotypical high schoolers involved in outlandish antics? Check. Leading man that outclasses the rest of bunch, but only just? Check, he’ll win you over I promise. So why only 2 stars Kamonga? It takes itself just a little too seriously.
Not only is this movie short on depth, but what little it has is manufactured, and worse yet, unnecessary. Trying to enjoy the high octane raunch of a textbook romp…
