Retreat is an interesting look into damaged families, emerging adulthood with rites of passage, mental illness and cult mindset mentalities.
The film is ultimately about grief and trauma and the effects they have on people. The film displays a juxtaposition between how Jamie (played by Harry Walters) and Jane (Played by Denise Wilton) are affected by the same trauma.
It also displays how people who are emotionally vulnerable can be taken advantage of by manipulators and Psychopaths.

A very stressful movie for which it deserves some credit as it illustrates a particular life style well.
It is probably a near perfect depiction of the greed trait. If you wanted to see what someone is like when their whole persona is more or less constantly self obsessed and they have very little control over their actions when profit is on the table, look no further.

Well firstly I'll say it had a great cast and pretty great visuals (although that is par for the course these days).
Now for the bad... The film starts off a little rushed an confusing, not that you can't grasp what is going on but I felt as if I was thrown into the plot without much explanation and they did a poor job of filling in the gaps later on.

A wholesome and thought provoking short by a close friend of mine.
Like many good shorts it can be enjoyed at a surface level for its humour or exploratoration of the charachters with in. But then has deeper levels of script writing, for example being watching the two charachters learn from one another.
