I would say I like movies more than a lot than a little bit.

Uncut Gems 2019
It's an exercise in tension. I like to watch movies for an explicit emotional response. This film surprised me in unconventional ways. I think it's one of the best films I've watched in the last 10 years. Time will tell if it's a true classic, but after Punch Drunk Love its the best film Adam Sandler has ever done.

Phantom Thread 2017
TIFF blew one of the two bulbs for the 70MM projector, and made everyone come back the following day. I saw Annihilation instead that night. The movie was marred by more technical problems that happened the following day. I think the projectionist was drunk.

The Fifth Element 1997
One of the greatest science fiction films, ever made, IMHO.
It's a quintessential MUST watch if you enjoy the sci-fi genre.
Literally space opera in a space opera, hilarious bad guys, BRUCEY WILLIS, and some excellent costumes, music, makeup, and setting. If you get right down to it, there's a lot wrong with the movie. The acting is extremely hammy, downright cheesy at times, the special effects are highly dated, the pacing is just... strange. But for a science fiction…

The Fly 1986
Great body horror. A must see if you're a fan of Cronenberg, and have seen Videodrome, The Brood, or Shivers. The transfer is far from being the best, the music is forgettable, compared to his other movies, but the final scenes more then make up for it. Jeff Goldblum's slow transformation into a fly-human hybrid is visually stunning. There's a reason why it won awards for best makeup. You have to see it to believe it, especially the final transformation scene which has got to be one of the most visually impressive transformations that Cronenberg has done, let alone anything put on film.
