Lackluster performances depicting emotionally challenged wealthy adults… There are a few charming moments here and there, but overall, it just feels like rich people performing their rich people problems — which often comes across to me as insulated, tepid, and uncreative, no matter how much I can connect to their humanity. Something about the dialogue felt kind of flat, too. Holofcener is difficult for me for these reasons, but I’ll keep giving her work a try!
