To anyone reading this review, I would just like to tell you that I’ve seen you hanging around the Rock of Cashell, profaning the soil with your goings on. Out of my sight.
This is the first movie I can remember watching in a cinema. That morning is pretty clear in my mind. I’d been acting up, and I think as a disciplinary measure, my dad gave me the empty threat that he was going to lock me in a cupboard. Eventually we did end up going. In hindsight, I can honestly say I wish I’d spent the time in that cupboard. I didn’t go to the cinema again for a year afterwards.
This film is uniquely lacking in quality. Bad cinema normally has a kind of awkward charm, but this one just makes me depressed. Not in a deliberate way... I genuinely thought I was going to enjoy it as a kind of fun, albeit schlocky piece of poorly made indie-trash. Instead, I just started to feel slightly empty inside. I think part of me died with this movie. So that’s an achievement, I guess... You might be wondering what the “plan”…
