  Started out strong, but in the end this is still just my second favorite film about a traveling family carnival troupe where the leader, his daughter the mystic, and reluctant assistant named Anton are convinced by a weasely con man to bring their act to high society to make some real money.

  Privileged, vapid, and pretentious.

  Fully aware that this makes me an old man yelling at the kids to stay off my lawn, but to paraphrase Herzog: I must not avert my eyes, this is what is coming at us. And brother, if this Daniels-core shit is on the horizon, it's gonna be a rough few years, The EEAAO Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race, etc.

  Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar 2023

  I dunno, man. I feel like the reason the show worked was because the serious apocalypse cult storyline stuff was peppered in like a spice on top of the main course of goofball antics. This is a bit like a bowl of just spice.

  That said, the animation is great, the relatively few jokes in here do land — usually courtesy of my boy Pickles — and I'm glad this show finally got the closure it deserved.
