The point of the 7 Evil Exes in the original work was that they were ostensibly cool people who were actually losers for being hung up on this one relationship from college/earlier. By focusing on their "wacky" and "charming" "quirks" like enjoying anime or being closeted, that basic contradiction is completely lost.
O'Malley's style is pretty as ever here (although there's some awkward 3D fights) and the cast provide a good enough performance.
