So this is what sort of what life feels like….. Jesus Christ what a film. So much truth.
Incredible performances, Chivo’s lush Cinematography, and the ever empathetic and sensitive direction of Cuarón. The screenplay by the Cuarón brothers is clearly personal without being sentimental.
This far more than a road trip, sex-comedy. The tone is unbelievably sound. Multiple emotions are churning in a scene at once. It’s painfully tragic, funny, and hopeful simultaneously.
Fucking Masterpiece. What more is there to say? Now I’m going to listen to Frank Zappa’s Watermelon on repeat and go for a walk.

This has to be one of the bravest and angriest American films ever made. You can feel Scorsese’s desperation, the belief that he may never make a movie again. It’s searingly personal. If you don’t know the story of what possessed Scorsese to make this, I’d invite you to look it up.
