Best film of all time. A perfect capsule of the 70's.

The weakest entry into John Carpenter's Lovecraft trilogy. The plot drags, the gags are subpar, and the production seems cheap.

Miserable film masquerading as a horror. The director chooses to elicit emotions through tragic death rather than substance. Characters have no agency and make illogical decisions to progress the plot to a weak commentary on familial trauma. Unfortunately helped spawn the era of dramas that have horror elements tacked on in order to sell itself to impressionable horror fans.

Worthless torture porn with a weak storyline. A film solely created to shock an audience who understandably would fear gore. Spawned an era where gore trumps plot or acting. The world would be better off if Hostel was never made.
